An order also has a status. Order statuses let you know how far along the order is, starting with "Pending payment" and ending with "Completed".
The order status of your order can be:
Pending payment: order received, no payment initiated. Awaiting payment (unpaid).
Failed: payment failed or declined (unpaid) or requires authentication (SCA). Note that this status may not be displayed immediately and instead is shown as pending until verified (e.g. PayPal).
Processing: payment received (paid) and inventory has been reduced; order is pending fulfillment. All paid orders are saved with a status of Processing, except those that only contain products that are both virtual and downloadable (item available in English only).
Completed: order fulfilled and complete - no further action required.
On Hold: awaiting payment - inventory is reduced, but you must confirm payment.
Canceled: canceled by an administrator or the customer; stock is increased, no further action required.
Refunded: refunded by an administrator, no further action required.
Identification required: waiting for an action from the customer to authenticate the transaction and/or complete SCA requirements.
